Walter Franks as Martin Luther King, Jr.
King Bio Pic is Searching for its Leading Man
After 50 years of made for television films based on the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Steven Spielburg and DreamWorks have taken the opportunity to take this most amazing life story to the big screen.
Walter Franks, in our opinion is most likely the best choice for the role. All though a name you may not recognize, Walter is surely a face you have seen before. Mr. Franks started his career in Atlanta Georgia as an actor in the 1981 bio pic of the slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers along with Oscar Nominee Horward Rollins, Irene Cara, and Lawrence Fishburn.
Later, Walter would portray Dr. Martin Luther King as a teenager in the film The Boy King and again on off-broadway.
Being from the south where black history is what you learn in school before you even know how to read or write we believe that the spirit of King and the era that shaped Dr. Kings lifes mission lives in this young man.
It would be a natural progression and an interesting time in cinema to see Walter Franks take the heavy reigns this role will bring. Can you say "Oscar"! I see a clean sweep at the big ceremony.
Our vote will stand from this day until the nominees are announced..."and the award goes to...Walter Franks"!
